Imbranato [Italiano/français] [English translation]

Tatooed on my skin like a fleur-de-lys1,

your silent departure was just (so) sad.

I gave you everything and expected nothing,

I ruined everything, I gave up.

By dint of silence, I have learned.

And here I am, still talking to you,

up to the point where I become disillusioned2, that I am

Still I love you, I love you, I love you

I know, this is nothing new, I know, this is over the top,

still I love you

And sorry if I love you,

and if we've known each other

for two months or a bit more.

And sorry if I can't speak softly,

but I'll die if I don't scream.

I don't know if you knew I loved you.

And sorry if I'm laughing,

I'm overwhelmed by embarrassment,

I stare at you and I shudder

at the thought of being by your side

and feeling I belong only to you.

And here I stand, blurting out my emotions3

and I'm just a clumsy fool.

I am a clumsy fool.

Go away, leave my faults behind4,

forget all regrets.

Mad love

is never done falling down5

Go away, if you must.

If all the words seem deceitful,

forget the fever,

forget my lips,

forget my words.

Sorry if I love you

Beyond all my afflictions,

it's your desire that drives me mad.

And if it looks like empty words6,

I could die if I had to,

and go Up There.

Sorry for all my faults.

As your tears hindered my words,

they remained on my skin.

The thought of you leaving too soon

and of feeling the fear again,

of knowing no peace Down There anymore

makes me a clumsy fool

And I am a clumsy fool,

Ah, but still I love you!

1. don't know if that's what is intended here, but whores were branded with this symbol a few centuries ago2. the actual word he uses means "demystified" (and nothing else), which makes little sense. I assume "disillusioned" is more like what he had in mind3. Lit "And (here) I am, (me) who is speaking emotionally"4. lit. "without my faults"5. sorry, but this makes little sense in French so I just translated as precisely as possible. What he meant by that is left to the reader's imagination6. that means "And if it looks like I'm speaking alone", which in French can only be understood as "I'm speaking to myself". I know love made him a bit funny in the head, but that would still make his speech a bit too incoherent for my taste!

I suppose he meant something like "l'air de parler seulement". That's still broken French, but that would mean "it looks like I'm only talking", i.e. these words are empty, he's not being sincere
