I don't really like Goethe's poetry.
I'd rather take something from The Beatles,
For example "All you need is love".
Goethe tires me.
We two are prisoners of empty windows,
We two are old warriors of rock.
It's too bright for us under the sun,
We dance under the moonlight.
We dance under the moonlight.
We are waiting for you, night.
Stir up the ashes and the memory with a gust of wind,
Brighten up the gloom of my soul with starlight,
Lay down1 the coldness and fire in my heart,
Keep telling me: Hey, you're still alive.
Keep telling me: Hey, you're still alive.
Every night, the moonlight brings news
About the cherished, you won't understand it,
If you, together with us, and a bunch of flowers in your hands,
Don't dance under the moonlight.
Don't dance under the moonlight.
We are waiting for you, night.
Stir up the ashes and the memory with a gust of wind,
Brighten up the gloom of my soul with starlight,
Lay down the coldness and fire in my heart,
Keep telling me: Hey, you're still alive.
Keep telling me: Hey, you're still alive.
1. As when saying "Lay down your weapons". In other words, "Restrain the fire raging in my heart"
