A COVID grip upon us
Spreading like a wild fire
The poor nations last
A vaccine preventing
But the ignorant avoid
The virus gains momentum
In those unimmunized
A verulence unheeded
Unseen atrocities to scar
Covert, left to the wards
A society is cooperation
Responsible citizens being
With freedoms come limits
Looking out for one another
Isolating the root cause
The unmasked truth prevails
Caring for others venturing
Lest death find its own way
The guilty and the inoculated
Subject to consequent strains
No man is an island then
Apathy and noncompliance
Lay communities to ruin
Trypanophobia dictates
Fear finds character weak
A pandemic feeds on ignorance
Denial and disinterest contagious
Kill the host indiscriminately
A virus has no soul to trouble
Multiplying embodied, suicidal
