In youth it seems love is fair
Romance and words intimate
Intense relations, reason lost
Morning light, truth bright
What felt good in the night
May soon prove an aweful sight
But none know the span long
That far outlasts ecstatic bit
And awakens one to real truth
That a little life dwells near
And suddenly a world closes in
A child's days now fall away
And pinned, a parent coming
Accepted or rejected still
Destiny beckons at the door
It gives the chance for good
Greatness that thrives humbly
Kindness and understanding
Do not let the days flash by
For regret cannot bring change
And ways are set, left fallow
But no bounty will be reaped
On barren plains thrown, sown
And final days in starvation
