Whilst I practice playing
Melodies bold and mellow
Upon the back porch steps
There you are busily out
Darting in, round about
My apologies Mr. Cricket
Noticing your distress
Could it be envious range
That wings do not afford
Your tones of stridulation?
Perhaps a critic orthopteran
Cannot stand for such noise
A clamor so stupendous
Seeking shelter haphazardly
No time for accompaniment
Your evening chirping loudly
Silenced only by nearing threat
Bears no symphony to my ears
A mating call 'oft in unison
Now taking mistaken cover here
