So we said goodbye to Barcelona

Oh, with a bunch of brand fine new strings in our hand

We all know and we all knew, the crew know

Oh, that the captain's gin bottle rarely left his hand

Message broke in on the faulty wireless

Was a storm force warnin', numbered gale nine

When the crew brought out the hymn books and stood around us

And we sang our hearts out all night "Auld Lang Syne"

But the numbers they have dwindled one by one
