The convergence of life
Finds souls akin in service
That kept countries free
Times of strife and upheaval
Through confrontations
That not always concurring
War taught us prospective
The costs so dire, so little
Cooperation not a mantra
A necessity for peace
That none hold dear more
Those who couldn't find it
Amidst battle stars given
Trinkets highlighting conflict
Calamity to humility
That fade in the struggle
The years pass on rapidly
And greys overtake all else
Looking aback in dilemma
'Tween laughs and sorrow
There in a world ever in flux
Tethered to the past
Confidence and knowledge
Mill its jargon and stories
An informal consultation
A brother and sisterhood
Stronger than maternal bonds
Keeps constant watch so
Never known by others
Nor understood, this loyalty
That even stranger bound
Is afforded faithfully too
In their passing weeping
As a dear family member
The love of a lost comrade
A sacred trust, warrior held
