I pray to all holy kin for silence,

the greater and lower sons of Heimdall;

do you wish, Odin, that I recall

tales I remember from men of old.

The sun blackens, earth sinks below sea,

stars withdraw from the sky;

smoke and flame rages,

the heat rises to the sky itself.

Brothers will take up arms, become each other's undoing,

the sister's children's kinship ruined;

Yggdrasil's ash shudders,

the ancient tree howls, but the giant breaks free.
