Ladybug, ladybug
So small and speckled
Most often unseen
The last vestige of life
In the frigid fall's airs
A witness to all that's been
Her brilliant shaded winglets
Little legged hungry hemispheres
As if on Sunday outing
Or a pleasantly proper picnic
Busily scouring petals
Munching on aphids pouting
Colours of the kaleidoscope
Mimicking poisonous pests
A pariah to the underfed
To fledglings in their nests
Best friend to every kid
Endearing in our hearts still
