The Humpers: Euphoria, Confusion, Anger, And Remorse
The Humpers: Euphoria, Confusion, Anger, And Remorse
turnover time:2024-05-19 23:37:15

The Humpers' musical approach isn't particularly groundbreaking: The band, like New Bomb Turks, embraces the dangerous, good-time rock of the '50s, and infuses it with punk brashness. Not that the two styles are particularly different, but you get the idea. But while New Bomb Turks' hardcore-'50s hybrid seems to be losing steam, The Humpers' New York Dolls-inspired take on the equation is chugging along consistently. Euphoria, Confusion, Anger, And Remorse is a juvenile-delinquent kick in the pants: Lead singer Billy Burke is a lusty, angry animal, drooling over secretaries, fuming about dirty rats, and looking forward to the next big fight. The band members back up the lyrical bravado with guitar-wailing, piano-beating musical thuggery. There's not much in the way of originality on Euphoria, Confusion, Anger, And Remorse, but it's a load of fun. The hardest thing to do while listening to The Humpers is deciding whether to sock-hop or drink a six-pack and throw up on your date.
