Every year the same
The seasons changing
Rush to plant in spring
To give the best chance
To mature before the snow
When autumn comes to call
It brings the fatal frosts
Whose icy hand wilts green
And steals the life from them
Leaving orphaned fruits deserted
Every year the same
A struggle to give longevity
To defeat if only for a while
The inevitable forces of fate
That show no mercy on all
For winter will not be kept
Awaiting for its rebirth frigid
Casting its white cloak over
And freezing the choking life
'Til it slips beneath the snow
Every year it is the same
This natural conflict goes on
Unabated it will not give up easily
But none more stubborn than pride
That will not quit so very easily
Fight on forces of nature
A farmer's ingenuity unceasing
Will stand and go on hoping
That winter cannot withstand
This onslaught never ending
