So common to think
To believe, to hope
That heaven's right
Yet we are accustomed -
Told that we get it all
Deserving what then
A realm eternal above us
Perfection beyond desire
Beyond all of us
Where is the limit to greed
The collision with ourselves
Who we really are
Does avarice know itself
Lest hell walk in the gates
Soulless angels pounce
What then is heaven
Is it a step away from hell
Indulgence immeasurable
Humanity spells out ideals
Yet each one defined solely
Cloistered in paradise
In infinite scenery
With limitless time
How could it be so
What is one man's treasure
Could be another man's hell
Yet desired, a heaven full of junk
Logic defies itself there
Eden must be thoughtless
To be so perfect
Intellect would bring misery
In a universe overturned
Where ignorance is bliss
If paradise were simplicity
Where everything was renewed
That's heaven's right
