If being a parent had requirements
That were evaluated and graded
To be university trained for years
To be precepted for many months
Passing mental health standards
And employment verification
All things critical to parenting
Dedication to duty at all times
Coolness in the face of adversity
Unflinching will to sacrifice all
It would be a much smaller world
A quieter world, a better world
All that flourishes criminally now
Might all but vanish in short
It would be a childless world
There are so many 'special' children
Deemed so by 'special' parents
That are exceptional and unconfined
By the very same standards heired
Disposing of society's claims
That takes away from selfish lust
And cripples them to be victims
So they ever perceive lifelonglong
Their enemy bears their cost
Unable to choose anything else
They remain sentenced for life
To keep outcasts unwelcoming
Substances numbed by themselves
An existence condemned by fate
Traded by decisions made ago
Between two planes indifferent
Apathy and overindulgence lie
Truths never really realized
Until faced then, all alone
